Organizational Development

As a chapter leader in a service organization for women, I help plan and implement charitable and practical service, classes and projects. Such projects include sewing quality, sustainable feminine hygiene kits for girls.  See http://www.daysforgirls.org/.

I also offer leadership development training to teenage girls.  The girls learned to lead by encouraging other girls, learning and presenting survival skills, developing public speaking skills, planning and overseeing a charitable service project.  The girls directed the completion of over 60 quilts which were donated to the Children’s Justice Center.

Freelance Writer

I wrote a novel, a re-telling of Beauty and the Beast.  It was an incredible creative experience.  I learned a lot about the writing process.  And, it make me an infallible predictor of what-will-happen-next in all future novel reading.

Book Editor and Book Reviewer

When author, Sherrie Christensen, approached me and asked if I would provide feedback and a review for her book The Power of a PENNY, I was happy to help.

My review reads: “The Power of a Penny scoops the penny from from our pockets and nestles it into our hearts.  The remarkable journey of a single penny reminds us that we are not islands, but that we are all part of the human family, bound by kindness.”

Technical Editor

I edited proposals for a scientist with a hearing impairment.  It was a meticulous task as grammar, punctuation, syntax and meaning were often ambiguous.  I also explained all editing changes to the scientist and provided instruction to help him become for proficient in his writing.

The following is an excerpt from a technical report submitted to me for editing. Asterisks have been added to protect privacy.

After Edit

The * proposals have been planned as part of the * . The * accepted these proposals in September *.  Accordingly, the * Park Trail will be used for off highway vehicles less than 50 inches wide. * selected the proposal to improve a trail section by “placing  barrier rock to keep [all terrain vehicles] (ATVs) on the trail and mitigating damage in wet areas of the trail” (, page *). Following proposal # *, work to begin the trail realignment would begin *.

Proposed Action

Due to wet soil conditions and constant water on trail # ***, all terrain vehicle use has resulted in deep ruts, braiding and mud bogs. To mitigate this problem a 2.3 mile reroute has been planned.  Following protocol, the reroute will follow “best management procedures” by constructing a new trail in an area where soils are better suited for motorized use.

Once resource specialists select the trail section realignment site, the trail section will be constructed in summer *.  As set forth in proposal # *, the water-damaged trail section, located parallel to the * Reservoir, will then be permanently closed and rehabilitated with native dirt, seedlings (willows), and rocks to restore the wet shore as deemed satisfactory. The rehabilitation of the former trail will begin late summer and early fall, when most of the shore and surrounding meadows become dry, making the work easier.  A new bridge will be constructed in the lower spillway reach, adjoining the intermittent stream below the reservoir.

Before Edit

The **proposals were planned as part of the * . The * accepted these proposals in September *.    * Park Trail will still be in use  is still to be used for OHV less than 50 inches wide. The * selected these proposals to plan the trail section mitigation by “placing the barrier rock to keep ATVs on the trail and mitigating damage in wet areas of the trail” (*, page *). Therefore,  this proposal, # *, would begin the planning of the trail section realignment starting in *. Under the planning, the Progress will be considered further in the analysis for the proposed trail reroute alignment. Continue reading “Technical Editor”
